Altough this is a common misconception, the Dunaújváros Acélbikák has no connection with the Dunaferr, or the DAC. Those are different teams. The Dunaferr still exists, they have no professional senior team, but they still have a junior team. The DAC (Dunaújvárosi Atlétika Club) is no longer exist. Here is a brief history:
According to the official website of the Acélbikák, the first hockey team in Dunaújváros was the Dunaújvárosi Kohász (Dunaújváros Metallurgy) founded in 1974. This team was sponsored by the local metalworks. They played their first match in the first division (OB I bajnokság) in 1985. In the early '90s they changed their name to Dunaferr, because the metalworks changed it's name to Dunaferr (new owner of the company). In 2004 the Dunaferr Ltd. had financial problems, so it couldn't sponsor the team anymore. Therefore the hockey team lost it's main sponsor, and couldn't pay the player's salary. The best players of the team (like Viktor Tokaji, etc.) started to play in the Alba Volán Székesfehérvár, and the rest of the players started to play in the Dunaújvárosi AC. The Dunaújvárosi AC was a totally different team, sponsored by the local government. Unfortunately the Dunaújvárosi AC also had financial problems and the club was closed down in 2006. In 2006 the Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák was founded but it has no legal connection with the so called "former clubs". Although most of the players of the Dunaújvárosi AC started to play in this team. The Acélbikák won a silver medal (2007) and a bronze medal (2009).
